I totally agree with you about Vuescan. Now that I have access to a flatbed
scanner as well as a film scanner I can use Vuescan to scan from either.

Regarding printing B&W with the 2200, I assume that you know about the
software to set the grey balance for this printer. Go to...

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/printers/making-beer.shtml

If you scroll towards the bottom of the page there's a link to an English
version on Epson's Russian site.

I also found a tutorial on how to use the grey balancer at...

http://www.photo-i.co.uk/talkshop/gb-tutorial.htm

You need a Kodak grey scale card to use the software.

Steve

Nelson,

I would definitely go with the EPSON 2200. It can produce superb black
& white as well a color. I wanted to to both without the trouble and
cost of dedicating a separate printer like a Epson 1280 to black &
white using pigment inks. In addition to the Nikonscan software I
also have SilverFast; however almost all my scanning is done with
VueScan. I am really disappointed in SilverFast for B&W. I think
VueScan is one of the great software bargains...
