Subject: [Leica] Electroluminescent light table

Ok, not entirely on topic, but today I received a Durst 
electroluminescent light table that is fascinating.

Before running out for the night, I am dying to know: it runs cold, 
glows blue-green.  Not new technology, but someone  here must be old 
enough to know how it works?  Is it a big blue LED?
