As one who himself resists cropping practically to the death, I know
what you mean...But I definitely prefer the cropped version of this one.

Thanks for your kind words...

I normally try to show full frame photos on my site. Which is why I love
my 
new vario-elmar - I can crop in the camera! Except, in this case, where 
they were already at the limit of the 200mm setting.

I tried the crop you suggested and have posted it.  In my mind the jury
is 
still out, but I think you might be right.

To compare, should you wish to, go to

http://www.horizon.bc.ca/~dnr and click on featured photo.

When it comes up, click on the photo itself to toggle between the two 
versions. To exit, click on RETURN in either page.

The colour is not so good in the cropped version as this was a "quick
and 
dirty" page to try it.  Sorry...
