Other cameras are a little more "wasteful" ... 1 - 2 - 3 and ready for an F3. I suspect that the film producers cater for the "worst case", giving those with a camera like a Leica a few extra frames to boot. As for anything being salvageable ... just have it developed. You'll never know otherwise. A few will be wasted and none have benefited from the experience, but it depends on how you feel about your shots.
