Having been a photographer for a coupla newspapers and a stringer for UPI in my
"youth", I can echo this....a good friend of mine just went BACK to work for
AP last year or so....the requirements?.....digital.....ONLY digital.....complete
with laptop/cell modem/etc......
Since my background >was< PJ, and since I have no interest in digital beyond
email-ing and web sites, I can truly say I'm now, and forever, an "amateur"...
(I've been in the employ of a university long enough, and I'm old enough, that
I doubt I'll ever return to daily "photography", if in fact it's still a viable
"profession")

Somehow being "offically" an amateur (I refuse to use the word artist) comes
as something of a relief. For years, I've carried a complete "outfit", ready
for any reasonable "job"..., simply for self-assurance....

Now I guess the M4/35mm will be all I need!!!
Sure lightens the load!!!

Going to take my pills, now, Mark....
