It is only fair to point out that after WW11 Leica was virtually locked out
of the UK with extraordinarily high tariffs until the 1960s so they were far
behind the Japanese manufacturers in trying to establish a marketing base
there. I would venture a guess that Leicas sales in the UK are still pretty
low compared to the US, which is one of Leicas largest worldwide markets. It
must be remembered that whether it be Nikon, Canon or Leica it costs a
significant amount of money to establish a Pro Service.
