I queried this some years ago, when people kept saying how expensive Billingham bags are (because here in the UK they're not really expensive at all). The answer seemed to be that they are *much* more expensive in the US. Depending on who you talk to, this is either because the US importer is being greedy, or that the US imposes a substantial import tarrif on goods made mostly of cotton (which would be the case with the canvas Billinghams).
