I toted a very heavy black bag, hung over my roller suitcase- filled with Leica gear (plus laptop and other costly 'stuff'.) As I arrived at the transfer-airline desk, the bag was GONE! There was all the gadgetry I held dear, GONE. My heart sank. After a cursory search retracing my steps I was certain a dastardly thief had deftly lifted the sack. The airlines shrugged and pointed to the police office. I mustered my best Spanish, tearfully explained my plight, and was assigned a young peace officer. We retraced the steps once again. Then he noticed a commotion near a security station: six attendants were VERY-CAREFULLY opening MY black sack- certain explosives may be within. The bag had simply fallen lose and was found alone in the center of an entry lobby. I am, to this day, not sure who was more relieved.... I am also certain that my initial sense of the peoples in this airport was gravely in error. How HELPFUL they were! ¡Muchas gracias gentes y amigos! That said, I no longer strap my black bag to the roll-on; I shoulder it! lee >- ----- Original Message ----- >From: "Wang, Albert" <Albert.Wang@ibx.com> >To: <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> >Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2001 19:49 >Subject: [Leica] Stolen Leicas--how do you prevent that from happening? > > >> http://teachnet.edb.utexas.edu/~leica/stolen.html has a full list of stolen >> Leicas... what are some ways to prevent others from taking your Leica, say >> while you're travelling or sleeping in a hotel? >> >> thanks again, >> Alfie > >------------------------------ > >
