excellent point.  in _requiem_ there are photos from a 1965 life photo
essay, shot by larry burroughs, that will forever be my enduring images of
the war.

speaking of vietnam, apparently francis ford coppola's recut version of
_apocalypse now_ is being released to theaters tomorrow.  there's a good
interview on the film with david halberstam in today's salon:
