My Minolta spot meter F is said to have fixed focus for readings from 1.3 m to
infinity. 
That's 4.2650918635 feet my arm is shorter than that i think.

(god they make a close up lens for it!) With close up lens .6 m ti 1.4m

but anyway you're supposed to open up a stop when using the palm of your hand.

It's handy! especially if your arm is 4.2650918635 feet long!

I just measured 29 inches as the further i could get the palm of my hand from my
spot meter when taking a reading.

I guess my light readings are out of focus!!
