In 1986 a new version came out specifically for the R series of cameras, this is known as the 3rd version. This is the version you appear to have. R 8's apparently are not selling well at all and good prices abound. Personally, I think for the equipment you bought, the price is a little above average and perhaps you could have shaved another #100.00 of the selling price. If you send me the serial no of your R 8, I should be able to give you some info on it. sincerely Michael Goldman mgoldman12@home.com - ----- Original Message ----- From: "fangang999" <fangang999@163.com> To: <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> Sent: Wednesday, May 02, 2001 6:15 PM Subject: [Leica] sunmmicron50,date & version ? > who can tell me the date of manufacture and version of my summicron R 50 with S/N 3535724 made in CANADA? > some people say summicron R 50 made in CANADA was the 3rd version and without built-in hood, and the 4th version wich with a built-in hood was made in German, but mine has a built-in hood, why? > i am a newuser of Leica and just bought a sencond-hand one but I really like it.Another question:R8+R8winder+summicron50(nearly new), > 1250USD,was that a good price? >
