Point Lobos for sure.  Even if every landscape photographer in California
has left their footprints in the pebbles there, it is worth going.   If you
take the coastal highway further south (Highway 1?) you will see amazing
things. If you like sand dunes, there is a whole stretch just north of
Monterrey (you can see it from the highway): Sun city? something like that.
If you keep going north towards Santa Cruz you will pass through artichoke
and strawberry farms for "laborers working in the field" shots.  There is
also a fantastic juxtaposition of a big industrial powerplant in the middle
of an artichoke farm about 30-45 minutes north of Monterrey on the coastal
highway. 

The Aquarium is wonderful.  If you need to chill out, head straight for the
jellyfish room or tuna tank for a mesmerizing vista.  Take fast film for the
jellyfish.  With Kodachrome 64 I was shooting f2 1/15.
