As photography was surely a calling for me, as I always wanted a camera when I was a kid but couldn't afford one as money earned from various after school and Saturday jobs went home as part of the family upkeep. When Irene and I were married in '49 and on my first birthday in May 1950, she asked what I'd like for a present and I said a camera! And wham bam thank you ma'am I got my door opened with a little Argus A2 plastic machine as she unleashed all my pent up feelings on the world. And now 51 years later the passions are still as bright, even more so, as my time slips away. However, this year, 2001 17 September will be the 50th anniversary of my first newspaper published photograph with the credit line, "Photo by Ted Grant" in the Ottawa Citizen. And that credit line really opened the flood gates of wanting to be a news photographer and eventually deeper into photojournalism. hell and I "ain't done yet!" ;-) Still got the callin' ted Ted Grant Photography Limited www.islandnet.com/~tedgrant
