That was my understanding, too - at least about the 90.  I was told by Werner Schmalz that was part of the problem that resulted in the production of the 90 being repatriated to Solms - the final polishing of the large aspheric element was difficult, and was giving low yields at Midland.

I thought for certain that the newer ASPH lenses such as the APO 90 involve
machine grinding (in addition to molding) in their construction.
