I would like to remark that Leica brochures remains very silent on who
designes and makes their budget zoom lenses for R, digilux and minilux. 

An old description of the R4/70-210 I found in Osterloh's book mentions
some "considerable efford from the Leica designers". But we all know
that this lens was taken straight from the Minolta shelf.
