G'day all, I must defend choice in this matter. I have bought the fuji 4700, having looked at the Nikon 990, and Olympus 3030. I thought the later 2 were better cameras, but the Fuji is smaller, and if I could get a slide copier attachment for it so much the better. I do not use the digital camera to record visually stunning images --- I have leicas for that (and rollei's and etc), but for e_mail, work related images, and giving talks, the compactness of the fuji is great, and the batteries do not die "too" quickly. Horses for courses. I agree that the zoom has some distortion, but I have to add that the images I've taken do reproduce wonderful colour, and the camera is fast (not too great a delay between images etc.) All in all, its a compromise, and most of our cameras are just that. cheers
