Focusing with manual focus and manual aperture control, to attain maximum
or minimum DOF is what experienced professional and advanced
non-professional photographers do constantly, every day, using the best
computer ever devised.

The human brain.

Setting the aperture and focus to attain a specific effect is intuitive and
automatic for experienced photographers. Electronic automation, actually,
gets in the way.
