Hugh, The SL received a couple of scratches on the baseplate, and the shock of the impact made the shutter fire. I picked the camera up, put it back on the 400 and kept making pictures. There have been no hints of malfunction. This is a very tough camera. This particular SL is an early-production model, and I've heard that later-production SL bodies are stronger. Anyone who want an indestructible SLR ought to consider a Leicaflex.
