Dr. Morrel was his personal pysician, and did prescribe morphine to Hitler, as well as other medications we would question today. PArt of his vegetarianism was a chronic case of inflamed bowel, and he was quite prone to flatus. I can imagine that he was a real treat at dinner parties! Aside from other purported sexual peccadilloes, and his fascination with younger girls, he was at one time quite superstitious. I finally figured that the reason people go bad is probably best explained with the "Chaos Theory". I find it interesting that everytime a serial killer is unmasked, there are those who were neighbors or acquaintences that remark what a nice person he was, how quiet, that he loved children, and small animals, was always helpful and neigborly! And they can't figure out why there are so many bodies buried in the back garden! What scares me is that normal people, everyday people, can suddenly veer into the realm of the unknown- and become monsters. To stay on topic, it works the same way with photographers. Some trundle along, happily snapping away with their Canons and Nikons, and some veer to the dark side, and become Leica users- looking for dingy dark venues to use the Noctilux, or quietly sneaking through the city streets, quietly and unobtrusively snapping shots of totally unaware victims! So the mystery of Leicas remain- why are seemingly normal, nice photographers suddenly start to slaver and drool over these fascinating pieces of art? ( He says, wiping the slobber off his chin....)
