M.E.Berube - GoodPhotos" <meb@goodphotos.com> posted some photos that,
though taken with a leica, oddly enough, weren't of anybody's
grandchildren:

and asked:

>But is it art?

art schmart, who cares. it ain't a dozen shots of building exteriors in
Prague (yawn) and it ain't a dozen photos from the family reunion (yawn)
and it ain't a trip to the zoo with the grandkids (yawn). i say "hip hip
horray!" let's get this bus moving into some creative directions.

whether or not it's art is not the question -- rather: "is it _good_
art". and the real test of that is "would i hang it on my wall." these?
probably not, but keep going.

if the artist has to ask if it's art, that's a very bad sign. if it's art,
you'll know it. if you don't know it, then you're not doing it right.

now goeth thou and buy a nobuyashi araki book. okay, don't buy it,
they're frightfully expensive, just leaf through it at the bookstore.
you'll easily recognize the book, cause someone else will be leafing
through it and not buying it. the cover will be all messed up and it'll
probably be stuffed under some oversized books in the gardening section.
