Another question, I am seriously looking at upgrading my P200 pro computer next fall and getting a powerful graphics processor and one of these Epson printers. If I replace my good old HP 970, will the Epson also do the more mundane tasks like printing letters and Quicken checks? My space is limited. I plan on having a semi-digital darkroom ("light" room??) as follows. Use film for the camera, but have it processed at a place that does Kodak photo CDs. I've found places for around 65 cents a scan in 35mm (plus medium), and $15 per scan in medium format (talk about another *big* difference in cost! But they are all like that. The medium format photo CD's have an extra scan at a super high resolution.) Take the images from the Photo Cd and manipulate them in Photoshop and print on an Epson. I would like to keep the ability to do 11 x 14 size, so the larger 1270 would be my choice. I would really enjoy getting creative control again, since I gave up my B&W darkroom 20 years ago. Also, I shoot transparencies mostly and the price of Ilfochrome prints is outrageous. This setup would soon make economic sense too. Heretofore, the ink jet output I've gotten on my HP has been crappy quality. I'm looking forward to getting something approaching chemical based prints.
