Sorry Eric, but only an American (as in U.S. citizen) could have written
that sentence.  The rest of us denizens of this pair of loosely linked
continents consider the term to have been completely appropriated by "those
Americans".  Canadians are especially sensitive on this point.  Like it or
not, nobody else sees that adjective as a taxonomic identifier.
