This is not the case with most B+W filters, that are too large to make the hood couple. If you can't try out for yourself in a store, get the Leica filter. The same goes for the the 21 asph. About the plastic finders, I like them better than the old metal type, because of the lever that locks them to the body. I have lost a few metal finders, which is very annoying on trips. Right now, I have both types of 21 mm finders, and when comparing them, I think that the plastic type gives a better and brighter view. So, my metal sample has retired into my cupboard. Like you, I don't like the cheap plasticcy look, and yes, they are much too expensive. But on the local used market, I will have to pay 2/3 of the price for the current finder to get a used metal sample. For that kind of money, I think it is a better deal to get the current type. The current finders are very good in function, although they are more likely to break, if the camera is dropped to the ground, heaven forbid. I still use a metal 28 mm finder though, but I usually secure it to the camera body with electrical tape. (Black tape is an important accessory for Leica users, maybe we should add super glue for users of plastic finders...) Good luck with your new 24 mm lens! Best, Hans
