If it doesn't interest them, they want it off of the list. They want to be moderator and limit everyone's posts to conform to their own interests. With 800+ LUGgers, happily, this is not about to happen. With 800+ LUGgers, there are 800+ different interests, 800+ different points of view. Leica photography related but not necessarily as narrow minded as a handful want to see. People are not afraid to say something for fear of being "moderated" out of existence. Many of us get irritated when some no life entity machine guns the LUG with a barrage of inane posts. But obviously, not everyone feels that way. The constant chatter is intriguing to some, irritating to others. Funny thing is, the flack around the fact that the poster is doing this, is actually worse than the poster's banal posts. What happens is that folks soon tire of conversing with an email Eliza. When the two way conversations stop, the hole in the dike is soon mended. And LUG life goes on as usual. All LUG topics, discussions, excursions, no matter how important or how insane, are cyclic in nature. They start, rise up, then fall and die out. Some excursions last longer than some folks patience. But that's their problem. Filters help bolster endurance. Don't punish yourself. Use them. You said what you wanted, certainly not Leica photography related. I said what I wanted, also not Leica photography related. And God (or whomever) Bless Brian for letting us do this. Nowadays, it is extremely easy to start and run an email list. Much of the software is shareware, and very sophisticated. I urge anyone out there to start a close minded Leica list. Advertise on the LUG. Then report back in six months and tell us, all 800+ of us, how well it is doing.
