[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]I own a 35 Summicron ASPH, and I have seen all of the mail regarding the front part of the lens coming loose. I have not encountered this problem with my lens. I have never owned a version of the 35 Summicron before the ASPH, but I had a chance to handle the last version before the ASPH at KEH Camera here in Dallas a couple of weeks ago. There is a BIG difference in size between that last non-ASPH and mine, although the difference is probably because mine is the chrome version, which is heavier than even the black ASPH version. The example at KEH did not have the loose element either, but I cannot tell you if it was the German version or Canadian. I did not look at the bottom of the lens. You can call them at 972-620-9800 & have them check it for you if you are looking for one. I recall it being a very clean piece, with a price of around $900-$950. I had two of the Canadian ones and both had the problem of the front part of the lens coming unscrewed from the rear. I think I heard the German version was more solid and wondered if anyone has had the problem with the German version? Is the ASPH Summicron-M constructed more solidly? Does anyone have any thoghts on the picture quality of the ASPH Summicron vs the Summicron 35mm before it? I've read the reviews but wonder about real world results from users. Thanks!!!
