"A S of the A coating procedure ensures neutral and natural colour reproduction, which now equals that of the other Leica-M lenses. Even at maximum aperture the lens performs extremely well and there are virtually no colour fringes or aberrations due to field curvature. When stopping down to mid-aperture, the low tendency towards coma disappears entirely." Do they mean that the old elmar was not good compared with other Lieca-M lenses ? About vignetting: " the decrease in light towards the edges of the picture becomes particularly evident with low exposure and uniform, pale image field. However, beyond ap. setting 5.6, the lens is free of vignetting and provides flawless full field illumination. The ELMAR is virtually free of distorsions and reflexions, even if there are light sources in the picture." Are all notices , let say "so reallistic" ?, It is strange compared to the "Faszination durch Praezision" !? Another thing was interesting, the notice on the use of filters: "the use of filters is possible without limitations" and in French "l'utilisation de filtres est deconseillee" which means exaclty the opposite ! (the German text corresponds to the English text) A simple mis-translation ? I also own a summilux 35 asph and an elmar 90 (latest) but I don't have the notice for both of them. I would appreciate if somebody could forward me what Leica says in the notice for those two lenses. (by fax or e-mail or a scan pic) regards, Xavier. - -- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Logean Xavier e-mail: xavier.logean@epfl.ch Swiss Federal Institute Phone : ++41 21 693 52 57 of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) Fax : ++41 21 693 66 10 Computer Science Department (DI) Institute for computer Communications and Applications (ICA) CH-1015 Lausanne - --------------------------------------------------------------------------
