As far as I remember from the meeting with Leica at last year's Photokina, at
least part of the 90mm lens, namely the big aspheric element, is made in Canada.
I am not sure why according to you Leica is shooting itself in the foot--is it by
having the lens made in Canada, by mislabeling the boxes, or what? If I ever buy
a lens that is mislabeled, I will be very happy--I just saw a mislabeled screw
mount lens for $4000 at the Leica Shop in Vienna--talk about instant
collectibles! I am very pleased with my Canadian Noctilux, thank you very much.

Anyway, these days many "made in" labels are meaningless, with most companies
sourcing parts all over the world. A Harley Davidson has less U.S. content than a
Honda Gold Wing.
