Hmm. I didn't know the origin of Canon's name. I assume the god/goddess was
the androgonenous Chinese/Japanese/Buddhist Bodhisattva Quan Yin (Japanese
Kanzeon?) -- the one who traditionally hears, sees, and responds to the
suffering of the world.
