For example, Tiffen makes Canon filters and Hoya and sometimes Tiffen many Nikon filters. If you need a multicoated filter, buy a Hoya SMC. Remember, its the same glass as some Leica lenses, so the only one your fooling is yourself. If people say they can see a difference using a Hoya SMC filter and B+W, they are full of Baloney (I didn't want to be impolite and say Sh-t.)! - -----Original Message----- From: Mark Rabiner [mailto:mrabiner@concentric.net] Sent: Thursday, January 14, 1999 2:39 PM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] Re: Leica filters + stuff Jim Brick wrote: > > There is no evidence that Leica filters are multicoated. Many B+W filters can be obtained (off the rack) multicoated just as long as they are the UV. Otherwise you wait for months. I've had my eye peeled for a yellow green and a red. I assume you are saying that the Leica UV's (not that I care) are really skylight's. No? Mark Rabiner
