I seem to recall paying about $150 for it about 10 years ago. It is a dual purpose tool. One side is for removing/tightening the eyepiece. While this may not be so important on a silver or black chrome camera, it sure helps to have it when working on a black paint camera. One slip with the wrong tool around black paint could result in a multi thousand dollar boo-boo. The other side of the tool is used for removing/tightening the surround for the shutter release button, which also secures the advance lever on every M camera ever made. Without this special tool, I can almost guarantee you will mar/screw up this critical part of the camera. There are also several other special tools required to properly work on an M camera. While there are a few suppliers of tools which will work OK for occasional use, the best of these tools come from Leica and if they will sell them to you, they are damned expensive.
