The Leitz cassettes are not "versions" of the Nikon AM-1:  when Leitz
introduced their first cassette, Nikon wasn't even making anything other
than military optics, if even that.  The AM-1 is a theft of the Zeiss Ikon
cassette design, a MUCH more user-friendly item, in all regards, than the
Leitz model.

This is yet another example of the success of Nikon being founded on the
theft of German designs.
