"I've heard offers of = adoption ... and marriage; somebody even has a tattoo of her face," says = the photographer, who shot the portrait in a crowded Afghan war-refugee = camp in Pakistan. Last year (this) massive banner - printed backwards = - - was displayed in Madrid at an exhibition of Geographic photos. The = face always attracts attention, Steve notes, "But I never found out her = name. I have a friend in Pakistan who continues to look for her." =20 A search of my NatGeo CD's revealed that Steve McCurry is credited in 18 = of them (up to December 1996) and this particular image features on the = cover of the CD set and also on the final image when signing off from = the program.
