Nigel,

Is it the f2.0 or f1.5 version?

I have the f1.5 black in LTM and it is a very nice lens. I also have a Leitz
75mm Summilux f 1.4 and it handles better on the M-series than the Nikkor.

I have quit using the Nikkor as it has become a collectors piece and it is
going up for sale. (Need to finance my purchase of the 75.) It is the black
barrel version of which very few were made. I don't have any first hand
knowledge but have heard that the chrome version (f2.0) is not as good an
image maker....that said I cannot tell you why or if that would be the case.

I once used the Nikkor a lot but most of the work was in B&W so I do not
have a feel for the "color" of this particular lens.

The f1.5 is bigger than the Summilux and the shade intrudes into the
viewfinder farther.

I used the 85 mm quite often for stage photography with strong lighting and
did not notice a flair problem.

If you are going to pass through NW Washington State (USA) anytime soon you
could play with mine before you send your money off for the one that is
sight unseen.

Cheers,
