It is simple.  I have done comparison tests and given them to art
director who huddled with color separator and both asked for Velvia.  

My stock agency sends letter asking that I not use Kodachrome because it
can't compete on the light table.

The popularity with pros has to do, among other things, with survival.  

If ultra sharp images were a requisite for professional work in
publishing or broadcast, we wouldn't have newspapers or television, only
a few books and a few magazines.
