It is well established that Kodachromes hold their color much longer than
other films when it's kept in the dark. Though I suspect the difference is
still there, it's not probably quite as great a difference as it used to
be. And it's also known that Kodachromes fade in projection faster than
others. But there's one advantage to Leica projectors in this area. They do
a better job than other projectors (at least the consumer models) at
cutting out the IR in the light path, so that less damage is done to slides.

The ideal solution for archival purposes is to shoot Kodachrome and make
Ektachrome dupes.
