Greg -

I wouldn't advise regularly dunking them, but my M6's have survived getting
completely soaked several times. The worst time was in a rainstorm in a
canoe in the Mosquito Coast. Everything was soaked. I had my passport in
one of those double sealable waterproof plastic cases. It was waterproof
all right! The water couldn't get out and my passport mildewed. The
Leicas I opened and let dry out overnight. They still work fine. Salt
water would be different. If you get them in salt water, I've heard you
should immerse them in a bucket of fresh water to wash out all of the salt.
Everytime Ernst checks my M's, he says the shutter is perfect so I don't
think you have to worry about splash and rain. :-)

Leically,

Tina
