This lens is a true macro, but is also excellent at infinity, especially if stopped down a bit. I fear that a $500.00 Leica and lens will not be able to give you the qualitiies you mention. I fear this will elicit the wrath of some. If you think of photography as a hobby I think you are right to start with a limited investment.
