I don't consider "unimpressive" a derogatory descriptive.  I believe the
writer
was simply expressing his personal preference for BW photography, since he
did mention that the one photo he liked from Eric's site was "Down For The
Count," which happens to be one of the few, if not the only BW photo on the
sports page.  

BTW, Eric.....was "DFTC" cropped heavily or did you just get in "real tight?"
