One of Phil Davis's comments--I paraphrase--'Any metering method not based >on a shadow reading is only an estimate.' An astute comment, for sure. And try that with an incident meter. :-) I can appreciate your experience of exposing without a meter. Edward Weston did it all the time. The main advantage of automatic exposure is to use it when appropriate. Multimode meters and cameras are multi for a reason. There are times when one is good, and when another is more appropriate. Those who don't vary their shooting much don't need fancy stuff. Totally manual simple cameras are just fine. But try photographing a variety of things, portraits. sports, news, food, fashion, etc., and the multiple talents of an R8 become obvious. ========== Eric Welch St. Joseph, MO http://www.ponyexpress.net/~ewelch French Lesson - BUFFET IS A FRENCH WORD.
