There was a QC problem with M6s when they moved to the new factory. And there are always going to be problems. Considering they make 1,000 a month or so, it seems to me a few stories here and there don't add up to a hill of beans. I can tell you on the Nikon list there are similar complaints about Nikon QC going down hill and the F5 is just a toy and all those kinds of complaints. In my experience, with Leica SLRs, and some with an M6 I have had nothing but pleasure using the lenses and a few problems with bodies (especially the early R4 series). But reports I'm getting on the R8 is that it's wonderful, rugged and precise, oh yea, and bright. Anyone who doesn't appreciate the R system, that's fine. Don't buy it. It drives up used prices! :-) I haven't been on the Leica list for a while, but decided to come back and see how things are going. I might be given a whole digital Nikon system to work with at my new job, and if that is the case, my personal equipment will be Leica again. - --------------------- Eric Welch Grants Pass, OR Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
