It seems to me that a much more reasonable approach would be to charge a
large deposit on these batteries which would then be returned to the
manufacturer for proper handling. I know that If I paid a $10 per battery
that I would be sure to return them.

This way I could use the PROPER battery and not have to go to Canada to get
them.
