Subject: Too plain M6

Can anyone explain why the M6 has its serial number stamped on top of =
the hotshoe? Why isn=B4t it engraved on the body like other Leicas, =
there sure is enough space. And I really miss the beautiful classic =
Leica logo on the body=B4s top plate! Plain can be beautiful, but =
isn=B4t the M6 purely too plain?
