Given this and the current price for an M6 body, excluding any rebate programs, I came up with the following: In 1983 the CPI value was arbitrarily set at 100. Today's CPI is at 159.09. CPI in 1954 would have run approx. 26.8. A 1954 dollar would be worth $5.95 today. This would put the 1954 M3 - then $288.00 - today at $1,713.60. An M6, today, is priced at $2,795.00. Leica's prices have exceeded the inflation of the US economy by about 1.45% per year. Regards, Ben W. Holmes Boulder, CO USA bholmes@frii.com
