Indeed an interesting question. I'm 45 and have been using Leica M for
about 15 years, starting with a used M4. Nearly all my Leica equipment has
been purchased used. I'm not "well off" either, being a public school
teacher, but I'm not struggling either. (Probably a grouch!)

My son, 24 has expressed an interest in cameras being in my will also. :)
