Re: mirror lock-up..... I find after using cameras with and without it that the shake is brief and only affects the image at the begining of the exposure. So, two solutions will give you sharper images: first, if you use really long exposures (say more than 10 seconds) the movement will have been long stopped and the percentage of the image made when the camera was still will far outweigh the amount made just after the shake; second, if you put a black card below the lens as you open the shutter, wait only a second or two and remove the card, you will have blocked out the camera shake entirely.
