Jayanand, my experience is like yours. I think that in 50 years I have
eaten maybe a dozen times in Michelin-starred restaurants, including two
3-star restaurants in Paris during the 1970s, back when I believed in
such things. I've eaten twice at Michelin-starred Indian restaurants
(Rasa near San Francisco and Veeraswamy in London). All were OK, but
none of them lived up to the hype or the prices.

Consistently the best food I've eaten anywhere has come from
street-vendor carts in Singapore, who are probably invisible to Michelin
inspectors. My most memorable meals came from an informal Nigerian
restaurant in London and a dockside dive fish restaurant near Salerno.
The Nigerian restaurant was mostly occupied by people who looked like
they moight have been Nigerian.
