Like humans, utility poles also have a service life.? This subdivision
was first opened in the mid-fifties, so this pole has seen approximately
65 years of service. Though recent years have seen bucket truck access
become the standard, the early years saw a lot of climbing with spikes.?
The surface of the pole bears witness to this fact.

The markings on the replacement pole, installed alongside the old one so
the cables can be moved piecemeal, tell me that the poles are owned by
AT&T, though they carry telephone, cable TV, fiber optic and power
cables. They also support transformers serving each home.
