Because I was afraid to attempt to open plastic feeders in subfreezing
temperatures, I threw some sunflower seeds on the ground yesterday.?
With the feeders getting empty, this Cardinal pair decided that ground
feeding was ok in an emergency.

I've noticed previously that the females often try to stay in the
shadows, as this one does.

Cropped significantly.
