>From what I remember, the actual fault is corrosion of the cell contact to
the wires.  Air ( moisture, really) getting into the case would cause this
problem.
This is an unfixable failure.

Weston meters were great.  

Like many great things, they are now no longer practical/possible  to repair
or replace.
