When the Germans were retreating in WWII they took down most road signs to confuse the pursuing Allied troops and many of them have not yet been put back up so please drive the side roads with a sense of humour and some scepticism about the GPS instructions. Good travels - Italy is one of my most favourite countries - I love the people, the history, the scenery, the wine and the food.
